Utena is the main character in the story. She is an idol of her classmates and defies the ordinary by wearing a boy's uniform. When she was very young, she recalled a prince on a white horse that comforted her when she was grieving. He gave her a ring with a rose crescent on it. Ever since she has always wanted to be a prince. As the story continues she begins to fight the student council to protect the mysterious rose bride.
